THE APARTMENT: Both the living room and the two bedrooms face the Mediterranean, so that the sea is in your view from either location. The living room extends to the balcony giving you unrestricted, most stunning views of the sea at any time of day, and the clear sound of the waves hitting the sand at night (when all else is calm).
Both bedrooms have windows with westerly sea orientation. Each is furnished with bed/beds for two, respectively. A portable gas space heater is also there. Both bedrooms have mosquito screens and roll-down shutters, and both have hot/cold air-conditioning.
The living room has a sofa with chase lounge, a Spanish cocktail table and a cabinet with DVDs and books, and satellite TV, DVD player and HiFi with MP3/IPOD station. The dining/eating area is off to the side.
The breeze so close to the water is very refreshing so that air-conditioning is really not needed for most of the year, ... except for those hot summer nights. During the hot summer nights, with windows closed and both air-conditioning and living room ceiling fan running, the entire apartment gets cooled.
Otherwise, the thrill to me has always been having all windows open and enjoying that fresh air and breeze.
The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, hob, microwave/grill, coffee maker, water kettle, toaster, griddle and the usual basics.
The bathroom has a shower/bath combination.
A curtain covers a small in-between area with electric washer, clothes hanger, vacuum cleaner and iron/ironing board.
The entry has a ramp for handicapped access, also two elevators.
The pool is located on the beach, so you have the sea in your view as you are in the pool area. There is a wading pool for toddlers as well. In addition, there is a playground for kids just west of the tennis court.
I offer unlimited high speed internet access/WiFi.
ALGARROBO COSTA is the coastal area of the Town of Algarrobo (Pueblo Algarrobo), which is located inland, off the Autovia A-7. As you head eastbound from Malaga airport, you can either take the scenic coast road (N340-A, Avenida Andalucia) or the highway (Autovia A-7) and cross over to the beach. The location is 38 km east of Malaga, and 9 km west of Nerja. Caleta de Velez with its harbor is the adjacent village, and Torre del Mar is a 5+ minute drive west.
This apartment is on the third floor of a building that was built on the sand, just as close to the water as the building permit allowed.
Looking south from the balcony, you have the sea, looking north you see little old Spanish settlements with a backdrop of the mountains.
End of 2005 was the first time that I have offered this place for rent. My mom had owned it from the very beginning. Being spoiled by the Pacific Coast weather, I was especially amazed by the incredible climate (I never used the warm clothes I had brought). People were sunbathing in October, as if it was summer - the strength of the Mediterranean sun was incredible.
There are plenty of great places to eat, buy anything from groceries to general necessities... all there within steps.
A short drive away: El Ingenio, a large indoor shopping mall, Aqua Velis, a family fun water park (right across from the mall), and Baviera Golf.
